Continuous Multimodal Signal Monitoring

By combining neural and vital-sign sensing in a single device, Aware delivers a high-fidelity view of how the brain and body respond under stress. Our first-generation Ear-EEG was independently validated in the Journal of Neural Engineering, demonstrating medical-grade EEG with machine-learning seizure detection in partnership with Emory Brain Health Center and Takeda Pharmaceuticals.

Fitting securely at the second bend of the ear canal, the Aware Hearable positions custom-shaped dry electrodes and sensors close to the brain, the auricular branch of the vagus nerve, and major blood vessels. This deep, anatomical placement reduces motion artifacts and ensures consistent, high-fidelity recordings with stable signal quality.

Enabled by Aware’s FDA-cleared 3D ear scanner, each device is precisely tailored to the unique contours of the ear. This precise mapping of the second bend ensures a perfect fit, consistent sensor placement, and reliable biometric data.

The Aware Hearable V2 is in development and continuously monitors neurological and physiological data in real-world environments beyond the lab. The chart above highlights Aware’s simultaneous monitoring of core temperature, acceleration, EEG, photoplethysmography (PPG), pulse rate, and blood oxygen saturation. These multimodal datasets, designed for AI, deliver advanced stress-contextual biometric data for human performance, diagnostics, and recovery.

Miniature Multimodal Sensor Fusion

READ THE PAPER READ THE PAPER

Each Aware hearable is custom-fit from a 3D ear scan and integrates a suite of miniature sensors that capture raw neurological and physiological signals with medical-grade fidelity.

Core modalities include: hybrid Ear-EEG, dual PPG, bone conduction, heat flux, multispectral bioimpedance, nine-axis IMU with gyroscope and accelerometer, and four integrated microphones.

Signals and measures captured: EEG, EKG, EMG, EOG, GSR, blood oxygen, pulse rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, CO₂, core temperature, bioimpedance, motion tracking, and contextual audio. Additional sensor capabilities are actively being advanced in V2 development.

Enabling Next-Generation Therapies

This same high-fidelity in-ear platform is being developed to support neuromodulation—unlocking new, non-pharmacological treatment pathways. With continuous monitoring, interventions can be precisely guided and measured in real time through biometric intelligence.

By transforming the second bend of the ear into a secure and stable access point, our hearable creates a new gateway for capturing stress-contextual brain and body data.
